I went with 2 friends about nine months ago and had a good experience, but haven't had a chance to go back. Checked it out with wife and little pup this evening, and all are sated and happy. I had the pulled pork a la carte (yummy), with grilled vegetables side (ditto) and my wife was happy with her spare ribs dinner. Son had the chicken wings which looked like a notch above, but of the Pioneer chicken vein of batter dipped. The kettle chips which comes as one of the side options were nothing special, certainly not up to The Bucket's (actually about the only thing good at The Bucket). A nice plus is that they use Haagan Daz as their ice cream, which is a positive sign for me (one of the reasons I used to be partial to CPK).
We got there at 4:45, and it was fairly empty, but they were getting busy by the time we left 90 minutes later. Zeke's is now completely server based - no more walking up to order and finding a table. Service was friendly and efficient. Total with 3 desserts and a beer was $50 before tip (admittedly a little pricy for 'cue). FYI, the owners will be opening another branch in West Hollywood shortly.
I then took a nice little walk down Honolulu Ave. There's a new(?) Cuban restaurant a couple of doors from Zeke's. Tried to check out the bowling alley, but they were closed for a private party. What's the story about it?
Anyone have other recommendations for eats on Honolulu Ave.?
