Zeke's Smokehouse Review, re: skate store adjacent

Thank you for the recs for skate shop-adjacent chow. We ended up going to Zeke's Smokehouse.

Nice patio with "escape hatch" for small children who want to run around the bench in front of Formosa. Watching children run around bench in front of Formosa, one of my best-loved bars, made me feel old.

Very relaxed, friendly and competent service. They will allow you to bring in special desserts if you like. Décor is very new, cheerful, and clean and the food is better than you would expect from a barbecue joint were the décor is very new, cheerful, and clean.

Onion rings were outstanding. Thin, glassine batter. Wonderful. Sides are better than at many barbecue joints. Ribs tasty although I don't particularly like any of the sauces. We were surprised by the excellence of the brisket sandwich, although next time we will ask for the sauce on the side.

Fat and delicious hot link bounced across table when it was cut, 1/3 landing on floor. Eleven year nephew watching. Role model Aunt does not pick up and does not swear. =(

Next time I will eat an enormous plate of fat and delicious hot links and a plate of outstanding onion rings. And I will not share. Children eat too much.

Lunch for five fat and hungry adults and five children: $140.

After lunch, we went to two skate shops, one on Fairfax and one on Melrose. Nephew was totally overwhelmed by scary skate rats and punks in stores. He was too scared to even ask questions even they were quite nice to him.

We went home, bought it online, and ate some pie.

Addendum: the only place to buy ripe bananas for banana cream pie, nephew's favorite birthday dessert, on Sunday morning at 8 a.m. is Crunch. Crunch will not allow you to buy 14 bananas even if you are member.
