Zazie brunch report

Mil Mascaras | Jan 17, 2005 02:02 PM

Tried brunch at Zazie yesterday.
The food was pretty good, my wife and I had the basic egg dishes, with customary potatos, toast, and bacon.
We also ordered the Challah french toast.
Nothing was bad.
I really liked the potatos and the Italian toast(it was better then the french toast).
Service was O.K.
2 1/2 stars.

The check came out ot $33.00 + $5.00 tip.

I would only eat there again if I were in the area; considering the 45 min wait to get a table, the food was not good enough to make me want to go out of my way again.

One thing about the service I did not like, was it seemed there was some preferential seating going on; After we waited 30 min, a man walked up without putting his name on the list and he was seated right away, he seemed to know one of the staff members, and he was given a table for four people without his entire group being present!
He sat at his table for quite a long time before his other guests arrived; which I thought totally sucked because I saw that they made another woman wait until her guest arrived to seat her even though it was her turn, and the fact that I waited patiently to be seated(luckily it was a nice day).

The place is so small that it is easy to notice a sneaky move like that! Shame on them!

I rec' the brunch at 2223 Market or Universal Cafe.
And 2223 takes reservations.
