Zaytuna Mediterranean Catering

equinoise | Jan 27, 202002:17 PM

For a couple of years now, I have had a penchant for a catering/farmer's market stalwart called Zaytuna. Like other over-achievers with a similar business model, Zaytuna is lacking in the social media/marketing department, relying mostly (solely?) on its Facebook page (credit is due for photo quality and resolution).

But said FB page is sufficient to entice the eater, and is representative of the way Zaytuna churns out an astounding variety of Middle East/Levantine fare. In fact, I am not clear on the specific origins of the proprietors (if I had to bet, I'd say somewhere on the Persian Gulf), and Zaytuna has served a variety of intriguing dishes that are almost never available at other local gyro/falafel joints with similar price points. These include kabsa, a traditional Saudi dish; fried kibbeh, a Lebanese favorite; and various savory and sweet pastries which I believe to be Turkish in origin.

Now, one will not find all of these things immediately available at the local farmer's market, but I have been deeply impressed by a couple of rolls/wraps: basturma and musakhan. The attention to detail that I covet is evident from these and also the kefta kebab plates, with spice blends and optional sauces that care.

As of press time, Zaytuna has 1 (one!) Yelp review. Try it soon.
