Zankou Chicken West L.A. -- falafels, atmosphere

AroundLAin80Days | Apr 30, 2005 02:16 PM

My visit to Zankou Chicken West L.A. last night was my first visit to any of the Zankou Chickens. Because I had chicken for lunch (oops!), I decided to order the falafel plate. The falafels were good, but I have had better elsewhere (for example, at Mandaloun in Glendale). I much prefer boneless chicken to chicken on the bone, so the half chicken that my friend ordered did not look appealing. In terms of atmosphere, I found the lighting to be rather garish -- sort of like the dessert display case in a diner. Overall, the life-changing experience implied by all the hype failed to materialize. Oh, well.
