Restaurants & Bars 2

Zagora rec, [SF]

Finally visited Zagora, a new "contemporary Morrocan" restaurant in my neighborhood [22nd/Guerrero] and recommend it highly to anyone on this side of town. We had a chicken bistilla. a lamb tajine. another lamb/merguez sausage coucous dish[ quite different from the tajine]. and a hazelnut cake. Every dish was lovely and flavors were rich and subtle. The presentation of each dish was especially nice and the atmosphere allowed for actual conversation! The food did not reach the level of Azziza, but was not far behind, and our bill was $50 for the two of us. While I have liked some of the food at Medjool,a few blocks away, we find the noise, and all-around "scene" unpleasant, and are happy that Zagora offers a better and more welcoming environment for the likes of us. This place and its nearby neighbor. Provence, deserve to succeed.
