First of all, many thanks to the chowhounds who responded to my previous message titled "Sushi Yasuda Question". Your suggestions were very helpful.
Dinner last night at Sushi Yasuda ranks among the best sushi experiences I have ever had. We sat at a table, and our friendly and knowledgeable waitress brought us a list of sushi pieces and rolls. On this list, the sushi chef had circled the varieties of fish that he thought were the best on that particular night. I highly recommend ordering the circled items. We ordered toro roll, salmon roll, kampachi, white salmon, king salmon, marinated salmon, and fresh water eel, all of which were delicious. The pieces of sushi were smaller than those found at most other sushi restaurants in New York. I actually prefer these smaller pieces. They were so delicate in comparison to the oversized (and sometimes sloppy) pieces served elsewhere.
We also ordered some excellent appetizers. The fresh cucumber with miso paste was light and refreshing. The fried soft shell crabs were crispy and delightful.
Everything we tasted at Sushi Yasuda was excellent. The service was friendly and attentive and the decor was beautiful. Although somewhat expensive, the prices actually seemed reasonable considering the stellar quality of the sushi. It was an unforgetable dining experience. Now I am afraid that I will not be able to enjoy my neighborhood sushi spots anymore. Sushi Yasuda has spoiled me!
