Yummy Sausage from SP Meats

Steph | May 5, 200402:35 PM

It all started when Zells closed at EXACTLY 2:29 on a Saturday, forcing us to consider another breakfast option. Slightly disgruntled, we decided to try Besaws in NW Portland before making our way to Forest Park. Besaws was quite nice overall, but the food find of the day was their delicious Pork with Apple Sausage. My husband's family made sausage and his standards are rather high (aka critical).

Sooo, (uncharacteristically for him) he asked the server where the sausage was from and they said SP meats on SE 21st Ave. Yesterday I bought a very reasonable 10-lb. box of 4 oz. sausages (@ only $2 lb.)and we had some for dinner last night. A mild hint of sage, very fresh pork, and more savory than sweet. Superlative YuM!

Talking with the people at SP (who are very nice), they are a wholesaler that also sells some retail and carry good brands including Drapers Chicken and Turkeys and Painted Hills Beef and Local Lamb, plus a host of other sausages including Chorizo, Chicken Apple, patties, 2 oz. links, etc. If you have a freezer, are having a cookout or planning a party, it's an economical and quality option.
