Went to Michael Mischer's on Grand Avenue (across from The Coffee Mill). Not a chocolate maker, but a maker of confections using swiss chocolate. Everything is good (cafe au lait chocolate - yum!) but the truly exceptional, worth-a-chowhound's-time treat is the pear. It's pear ganache in chocolate (shaped like a mini pear) and he manages to make the pear a dizzying delight. It is at the same time sweet and creamy and chocolate-y, while carrying a strong and direct pear flavor. The chocolates are be weight but seem to be about $1-$1.25 each. I also love the colors he's used to paint the outside of the store and his business cards. But definitely go for the chocolate pear and tell me what you think!
