I finally got out to the Lakeline area this past weekend after a long hiatus and I discovered a very interesting ice cream shop called Zero Degree Ice Cream Creations at 11301 Lakeline Blvd suite 200. At first glance this appears to be a typical Marble Slab clone, but upon closer inspection there are some fascinating Indian-style options. I'll freely admit I'm not an expert on Indian dairy treats, but I very much enjoyed the "rose" ice cream with an M&M mix-in. I liked the delicate flavor and scent, which were unlike any traditional US ice cream flavor I've experienced. I also sampled the "chikoo" flavor and enjoyed it's unique texture and mouth-feel.
Have you ever tasted a Falooda (sp), it's sort of a cross b/w a smoothie and milkshake. I think it's an Indian drink? I tried one at the recently closed shop on North Lamar, and found it to be one of the more exotic tastes I've experienced in the past couple of years. I didn't love it, but I enjoyed the completely exotic/foreign flavors. Zero degree ice cream serves faloodas. If you enjoy exotic treats and ice cream, you owe it to yourself to try this place.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. The shop was clean, but not spotless. Prices were very reasonable. It looks like they offer ice cream cakes.
