Yummy! Carribean Food: Cafe Dore (Smith St.)

a friend and i recently had SUCH a great dinner at Cafe Dore, which is on Smith st. (Btwn. Sackett/Degraw) and i was inspired to write about it, since the place was pretty empty, and it shouldn't be - the food was SO good!

we shared appetizers (veggie patties) and dinner, which was the seafood combo platter which had red snapper, giant sea scallops and huge prawns. each of the fish were cooked to perfection, and it came with the yummiest beans and rice i've ever had! the flavors were amazing on the fish and such a deal - $13.50 for the plate (it comes with a little salad). we also shared a side of mac & cheese and fried plantains - both were great. for dessert we had the macadamia coconut tart, very buttery, tasty and again, delicious. to drink i had a homemade gingerale and my friend had lemonade.

i may sound like the proverbial broken record here, but i highly recommend this restaurant. the prices are fair, the food is excellent, the service was great and the ladies that run this place are so nice and really go all out to cook up some great food.

i hope folks try them out and have as good an experience as i did!
