Calvin Trillin's New Yorker piece (below) references Yuet Lee, which has always been my favorite Chinese seafood place in SFO. I have sent a number of friends there over the years, usually to good result, and ate their myself when visiting San Francisco a couple of times last year. However, I recommended the place to another friend a couple of months ago, and he reported that he was not as impressed with it as my recommendation had indicated he would be. Are his tastebuds off (I had forewarned him that the decor was definitely nothing special), or has Yuet Lee slipped recently? If so, what are your recommendations for better places?
