Don't YUCK my Yum... or maybe YES!?!

My Dad had his quirks but was TOTALLY on the money when it came to food. He liked his steaks/beef medium at the MOST. NOT my favorite as kid, but I grew to know that THAT'S the best way... IMNSHO!?! He LOVED shrimp... I grew into how great it is as a teen.

Some things... like from "extreme" food shows that I have NO intention of even thinking about THINKING ABOUT putting in my mouth. That fermented duck embryo thing (balout??) or Durian fruit (smells like ROTTING meat)... not REMOTELY remotely happening.

Was out getting sweet potatoes for dinner on Sunday. Right nextdoor is a place called The Meat Stop. NICE meat and GOOD prices. A bit quirky, though. Has large section of stuff that's probably "odd lot" stuff. Rarely if ever past "best by" date and never on stuff that you'd generally YUCK at. They have a lot of meat/poultry items that I'd label as geared to "ethnic" cooking... tripe, chittlins, chicken feet. I see a package of something that looks like skinny Italian sausage (about as thick as my thumb) and pick up a package. After I take reading glasses off top of head and put on face, I discover it's labelled "steer pizzle"... PENIS... almost threw the package across the aisle!!
