out-of-the-way Ypsilanti (MI) taquería

Ypsilanti is turning into quite a hub for Latin American food. Who'd've thunk it? There are new Guatemalan and Salvadoran places I haven't tried yet (will report back later). I really like Taquería La Marqueza way out on E. Michigan across the little stub of Harris from Value World. You can get dinner and a new outfit for under $20! High school Spanish helps here, but the younger employees speak English. Just a basic storefront Mexican place with great flavor in the carnitas, carne al pastor, and chicken. If there are dishes taped to the wall, try them—sopes are tostada-like things on a big corn cake, and tacos dorados are small tacos rolled up and fried. They sometimes have birría, which I think would make them the only place in Washtenaw County to serve this dish.
