I was delighted to learn that Fujita-san has a new Yo's Sushi Club (actually 4 months old) at 3369 Mission St. Went there tonight and was pleased with the selection and quality.He aced the egg (tamago) test - a light, slightly sweet, nicely layered omelet on top of perfectly cooked and seasoned rice.His nori was fresh and crispy and made a satisfying crackle as we bit down on our unagi,ikura and natto handrolls.The hamachi, salmon, ikura and uni all tasted fresh. Yo's special roll, a melange of shrimp tempura, unagi and avocado was gigantic and tasty.Again the nori held up without getting soggy and chewy. He doesn't have a kitchen to speak of so his menu is pretty much limited to sushi and a few appetizers. Still, his sushi selection is good ranging from traditional nigiri such as maguro, hamachi, ebi, amaebi to modern rolls such as Spicy Tuna, Salmon Skin and Rock n Roll. He told me when he has a little more time he'd like to get back to concocting his own soy sauce again.
