New Yorker Seeks Advice

I expect to be in San Francisco for a few days late in October, and I would like to take in at least one top flight dinner at a French, Continental or American restaurant. The quality of food, the service, the decor and the atmosphere/"feel" are all important to me, as is the value. (For instance, I'd rather spend $100+ per person for a memorable meal than $70 for a meal that's good but not special.) In making comments and suggestions, please give very little weight to the wine list or to tasting dinners. I do not wish to travel outside the city. Among the places that I'm considering, without knowing a great deal about them, are Gary Danko, Boulevard, La Folie and Fleur de Lys.
