New York Style Pizza

LBQT | Dec 3, 2003 11:10 PM

A Slice of New York Pizza - that's the name - a small, very NY-ish pizza joint on Main Street in Seal Beach. The owner/pizza maker is indeed from NY, and is making the real thing. By hand. I watched him expertly toss around a ball of dough and turn it into a thin round which would crisp up nicely in the oven. You can get pizza by the slice or by the pie. It's a simple menu: pizzas, calzones, and a small salad (yeah, soda bar, too). Shakers of red pepper and parmesan on the four tables - you can also take it outside and enjoy yours on the benches in front, in the ocean breeze. I sampled a plain cheese slice, and one with pepperoni and mushrooms. Great thin, crispy, crust, a couple of shakes of red pepper added some kick. Generous slices. Two slices and a soda (free refills) for $5.00 - such a deal!
