Just got back from a weekend in New York and I wanted to thank everyone for all of your advice over the past month. I had a wonderful time and wanted to give a review on the places I went.
The Noho Star-I went there Friday for lunch and had the shrimp BLT. It was excellent and I really enjoyed the atmosphere too.
Friday night before seeing a show, I went to Becco. Also a great choice. The seating was a little tight but I got used to that by the end of the weekend.
Friday night I went to Birdland and saw Peter Cincotti. He was great. I had never listened to him before I went to Birdland and now everyone at my office loves him as much as I do.
Saturday I stopped in the Magnolia Bakery for a piece of Hummingbird cake. That place reminded me of grandma's house.
Saturday night was my most memorable in New York. I had dinner at Gramercy Tavern. I had the tasting menu. It was probably the best food I have had. My waiter was very attentive and paired all my food with terrific wine. When I am back in New York I will be back here for sure.
After dinner Saturday, I stopped into Jazz Standard. Although I liked the place, the band was not my favorite especially after seeing Peter Cincotti at Birdland the night before.
Finally, Sunday brunch, I ate at Five Points. The wait staff was fair, but the food was great. I had their oven baked eggs and polenta. The fresh apple martini was good too.
Thank you all so much for all of your advise. I made my trip to New York such a great experience and I know I will be asking for more the next time I return!
