Just got back from York Beach and here are some short reviews to add to the rest:
Basic Italian. I come here for the atmosphere. The food is ok, but you can get an ocean view (the restaurant is across from Long Sands Beach)or you can sit in the main area which looks like a old Italian restaurant in Boston. I like that it's BYO, so we got a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio for a nice price and they give you a complimentary appertiff after dinner.
Lobster Cove, York
What looks like a tourist trap turns out to have a fantastic fisherman's platter. They enclosed the porch overlooking the ocean - kind of disappointed in that, but would recommend.
Wells Steakhouse, Wells
Wouldn't normally have steak when in Maine, but the inlaws insisted. Very pricy, no atmosphere. Shrimp scampi ($7.00 for 4 *small* shrimp) lousy. The filet mignon was good though and cooked to perfection, if that's what you're into.
Cliff House, Ogunquit
Sunday Brunch - A little pricey, but worth every penny, imo. Gorgeous view right on the ocean. Fantasic buffet with an omlette station, crepes station, and belgian waffle station and everything else in between. Kids are half price.
Captain Simion's Kittery
Once again, inlaws prevailed - tourist trap - skip it.
Didn't get to Flo's hotdogs - didn't realize they were only open 11-3 - that's for next time.
Didn't get to York Harbor Inn, but would recommend it based on past visits.
FYI: All of the places we went were kid friendly. We brought our 5 and 12 year old to all of them.
