Two chowhounds originally from California seek the best to be found in Manhattan or the Outer Boroughs, for a one-day marathon chowing session.
Can it be done? Will we have to stick to Queens rather than Brooklyn? Or better to stay with Manhattan's best instead of taking the subway all over the place?
Our list so far includes:
Charles Southern Kitchen- lunch
Peking Duck at The Nice Restaurant (35 E. Broadway)- dinner
Kossar's Bialys and Bakery- breakfast
and possibly Union Square Cafe and another bakery or patisserie
We'll be coming by Chinatown bus from Boston the night previous, so thus far all of our choices have been in Manhattan. If do-able in a day and a night though, please suggest the best only in NYC wherever it may be! Other possible cuisines include Cuban and Puerto Rican, Indonesian, Malaysian, or Central Asian. In short, stuff you can't really get in Boston, SF Bay Area, or LA, or can't find of equal quality.
