Have you heard? We're having a social in New York this Saturday all we're stealing some of your best hounds. Yumyum and galleygirl will be making the journey via the $10 Fung Wah bus and you can too!
In case you haven't heard the details, here's the deal: About 80 hounds have already RSVP'd to this bash that will be held in a bar called No Idea. Perhaps you saw it in the most recent episode of The Restaurant?
Everyone is bringing a sampling of their favorite dish. We've done this two times before and one of our posters nailed it with this description "God's tapas bar." Yes, that's pretty appropriate.
We've rigged up an ingenius RSVP system on eVite.com so that you can see who's coming and what they're bringing without wasting precious Chowhound bandwith.
Anyhow, here's all the relevant info. Hope you can make it, our Boston brothers and sisters!
Admission for each attendee is a minimum of a $20 donation to Chowhound. You can pay by cash, check or charge the day of the social or you can pre-pay by making a Good Will Donation here:
Be sure to bring a copy of your Good Will receipt to the social. Only Good Will receipts from July 15th to July 26th will be honored. When you make your Good Will donation, be sure to note in the comments box that this is for the Chow Social.
Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will send you the evite link. ALL hounds are invited! Lurkers, veteran posters, friends of posters. EVERYONE!
Using evite has worked out very well. All attendees can see what everyone else is bringing, making it easier to decide what to bring.
If you need a suggestion as to what you should bring, I will be happy to make a suggestion based on your location, food preference, etc ;)
Those who know me should be prepared to drop their jaws: we are set on dessert. If you are undecided as to what to bring, make it savory.
How much should you bring? Well what you want and can afford is appropriate. If you figure the dish will feed 5-10 people then you can expand it as a tasting.
Please bring your food item already cut up and ready to go . If your dish requires say a spatula, its up to YOU to bring a spatula. Keep in mind that this is like a tasting, so portions should be 1-3 bite sized.
If anyone has any extra disposable serving utensils they dont care about getting back please bring them along.
Are you willing to be a helper at the social? I have a few duties that Id love to have help with. Please email me at the address above.
No Idea is located at 30 East 20th Street, between Park and Broadway.
