This GuangZhou icon, with history dated all the way back to 1958, once vowed not to open up a branch outside of China. Seeing a number of their peers with famous and marketable name brand making a killing with branches overseas, they have decided to open up an offshoot at the NW corner of Steeles and Warden, next to T&T.
After hearing good things from friends and relatives who had given Yin Ji's award winning products a try. We decided to see for ourselves whether the hype is justifiable.
Upon entering the premise, the first thing that greeted us was a wall lined full of awards and certificates. Very striking!
We ordered both their house special Hand rolled Rice Noodle crepes as well as their Rice Congees. One glance at the impressively constructed Rice Noodle crepe and all the hype and praises were confirmed. The silky smooth, gossamer thin, translucent and pliant wrapper was an art of beauty. Much more refined than any versions from kitchens of large, 'big brother' restaurants. Consistency of the rice congees was also spot on. The way they dressed their products with a generous amount of cilantro to accent the taste profile was a master touch!
All in all, a pretty satisfying experience!
