Yellow Griffin - GREAT burgers, SCARY owner, bark bark

My SO and I went to the Yellow Griffin on Bloor Street a couple of Saturdays ago. We had read some Chowhound postings on the place, and decided to give it a try.

I can't remember the "names" for the burgers. I ordered a beef burger with whole roasted garlic cloves, Stilton, and toasted walnuts. It was cooked perfectly and was very, very tasty. My side dish was the onion rings, which were OK. He ordered a lamb burger with grilled eggplant, hummus, and yogourt, I believe, sided with the sweet potato fries. Of course, we sampled each other's food. The lamb burger was fabulous, and I can be pretty picky when it comes to lamb. The eggplant, hummus, and yogourt toppings were deliciously complementary. The sweet potato fries were among the best I've ever had. So what could have spoiled this meal???

The owner. She began berating one of the wait staff (the woman who served us, actually) and would not let up. She was loud, accusatory, and most unpleasant. It went on and on. She'd let up for a bit, and then go at it again. Pointing her finger at her and belittling her in front of customers. We had very much enjoyed the funny, playful personality of our server, and noted other tables near to us appeared to do so as well. It was appalling. My SO made a point of going over to our server, during one of the owner's tirades, to tell her how much we had enjoyed being served by her. We glared at the owner as we left.

Health board please note. The owner's Shetland Sheepdog was in the dining room during most of our meal. Towards the end, the owner deposited her dog in the kitchen, leaving her hands leash-free, I guess, so she would have more fingers available to point at the wait staff while she yelled.
