Yeast batters to deep fry fish or chicken?

I see many styles of batter for deep frying. Some are just flour and beer or club soda (the carbonation does the leavening) others use baking powder while others use yeast allowed to ferment awhile. What do you use for deep frying. I prefer light & crunchy. What are the features and benefits of the different types?
