This year I will be accompanying a friend to the Rose Parade on New Year's Day. I'm planning to get to LA 12/28 and stay through 1/4 or 5. Friends have recommended staying downtown LA, and I am tempted to go without a car rental and rely on Uber/Lyft. I have a long list of restaurants I'd like to try, but almost wish it wasn't a "holiday" week. My list includes Gjelina, n/naka, Otium, Republique, AOC or Lucques, Animal and Mozza. Feel free to comment on these, suggest more, and definitely weigh in on best place for New Year's Eve. I would prefer somewhere without a "special" menu. Thanks!

Otium
Republique
A.O.C.
Lucques
Animal
Osteria Mozza
