Is anyone here familiar with the concept of a New Year's pretzel? It's essentially a breakfast pastry -- in my experience, like a cinnamon roll, in the shape of a pretzel, usually with glaze and chopped walnuts on top. I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, where it was a huge tradition to have one on New Year's day; apparently the tradition has German roots. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and where I might find one anywhere in the Bay area? I tried searching old posts for info on German bakeries, but found nothing. Thanks in advance for any help!
