New Years Eve in Chicago for Twenty Somethings

Hi!

My boyfriend and I will be visiting Chicago from boxing day until January 1st. We are staying just off the magnificent mile near the canal. We are looking for something fun to do on New Years Eve. We don't want to spend much more than $120 a person for tickets but we do want to drink and party. We enjoy good food and wine and like to dress up. I have found two events that seem to interest me. The first is New Years Eve at Hub 51 http://www.fanfueled.com/Event/Detail... and the second is the party at Crystal Gardens at Navy Pier http://www.crystalgardensnye.com/

I was wondering if someone could let me know which they would recommend, or if either are even worth attending. This will be our first visit to Chicago and we are looking to make it one to remember.

Also, we are looking for recommendations of places to see and things to do.

We will be going to Second City on the 27th for a late night show. Is there anywhere near there that has good food that is reasonable? We are looking to spend no more than $50 per person that night, including a glass of wine if possible (maybe skipping an app to do so).

On the 28th we are going to the hockey game at United Center. I know both Blue Bird and Prasino are not too far by bus, would either of those be good options for an after the game dinner? Is there enough to do around that area to spend the day or should we just head out there for the game?

Our next two days we don't have plans, we would like to see the Cloud Gate and do some shopping, but if anyone has any recommendations please let us know. We love music, fashion (me), architecture and food. We were thinking of taking the pedway tours (I think that is the name) and maybe the L tour.

We would like to do a nice tasting menu dinner, is Bonsoiree a good option? At $85 for 8 courses it is extremely reasonable and BYOB helps us to save some money, but we want to make sure it is good or else we would prefer to spend a bit more.

Any advice on how to get into the Aviary for drinks on either the 29th or 30th would be appreciated. Can you e-mail in advance or does it have to be done on the day of?

Thanks so much for reading and for any suggestions or answers! They are greatly appreciated!
