It happens to me only once a year or so, but it's an insatiable craving, demanding immediate, soul-soothing attention. The Wings Attack. Off to YE OLDE RUSTIC INN to try and plug up the dam.
It had been awhile, but they're as good as I remember: large, crispy, meaty. Served dry in a viscous pool of spicy sauce (must order spicy, must order extra sauce), requiring a bit of grab-and-spin handiwork to acquire the proper chicken-sauce ratio. Rather than the microscopic and pitifully bland Hot Wingz Cafe offerings, this is more like eating freshly fried chicken bathed in punchy, vinegar-y, Day Glo heaven.
Rest of the food here is pretty bad. Music is loud. It's crowded and dingy-dark dungeon-like. It's all worth it, though, for some of the best wings in LA.
