'Yardbird' - Sorry folks! Hate to go against the trend... but my meal was a huge disappointment!

Charles Yu | Feb 23, 202012:54 PM

After a good night sleep at the highly recommended new and modern boutique hotel " Abae ", we chose to have an early brunch before embarking on our cruise ship. Based on a number of positive and rave reviews, I picked to try out the 'supposedly great' Southern fried chicken and waffle at the famous local joint - ' Yardbird '. Man! What a major disappointment! The food was absolutely forgettable! The deviled eggs were overly seasoned and salty, the addition of the salty smoked trout caviar was a major over-kill!....think changing ordinary sea water to 'Dead Sea water'!! The fried chicken was just not up to par! One dimensional, bland, dry and over cooked, at $28 for half a bird...talk about an over-priced rip-off! IMO, the ultra-flavorful, juicy, free range 'supermarket' version of 'Publix', was far superior and at 1/4 of the price, an unbelievable deal! ( last photo )
