Back A Yard report

A friend wanted to have an early dinner so based on CH reports I suggested either Old Port Lobster Shack or Back A Yard (both of which close at 8, earlier than my normal dinner time). Jamaican sounded more interesting so we ended up at Back A Yard.

The food here is excellent!! I had the jerk chicken which was just barely spicy but had great depth of flavor. My boyfriend's best friend is from Jamaica and he frequently makes jerk chicken from a sauce he brings back from visits to the island, but the jerk at Back A Yard was much more complex and layered (though significantly less spicy, most likely due to shorter marinating times). I tried a piece of my friend's jerk pork, and it was super-tender and juicy with a delicate jerk taste. Another friend ordered the BBQ chicken and pork combo plate and enjoyed that as well. Later we I had a piece of the key lime pie which was also mild and good. Overall we were quite happy with our food and would definitely come again.

The only issue was when we arrived and all the three tables were taken. We asked for another table to be brought out since there was room for it, but were told to wait for one of the small tables with some story about blocking the entrance and all that. But five minutes after we sat down, the group after us also wanted to sit down too, and voila, another table was brought out. It wasn't a huge deal but it did seem a bit strange to us, and in the future we'd probably just get take-out to avoid the hassle.
