Yamo Thai Kitchen

Thea | Feb 28, 200312:46 AM

I picked up some takeout from Yamo Thai, the hole-in-wall on 18th at Mission this evening. I ate here a couple times some years ago.

We had Tom Ka with shrimp ($6.95), BBQ Chicken ($5.95), and eggplant with chili sauce and tofu ($5.95).

The coconut soup was good, but I should have ordered chicken with it, the shrimp does not work as well.

The rest of the food stunk. The "BBQ chicken" was boneless marinated chicken thighs fried in the wok. They were wet going in seemed to steam, with no carmelization on the outside. I can smell it, but not much taste.

The eggplant and tofu was just awful and not spicy as promised. There is some liquid 'sauce' tastes like water, but no flavor. Nasty eggplant, mealy tofu. Not much was eaten, what a waste.

Are there just certain things to order here? I know the soups yeah, but what gives with the rest?
