Any 'Yalda' events in Bay Area - Persian celebration of Winter Solstice, longest night of year

zippo | Dec 21, 201310:13 AM

From what I've read, Yalda ( Persian 'Night of Birth') is marked on 12/20 or 12/21 to greet the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Iran, Afghanistan, Armenia and other countries celebrate the event. Traditional dinners feature pomegranate, watermelon, yogurt and other dishes.

Has anyone attended a previous dinner or know of an event going on tonight?
