I found out a couple of weeks ago that I'm diabetic. This hit me out of the blue - I guess it does most who get this kind of news. My doctor wants me to try the Mediterranean Diet with as little sugar intake as possible and see if I can control it through my diet. I am ok with the diet for the most part, but I find I'm using too much sweetener (Splenda, Equal and the like) for things like tea and coffee which I drink all day. I know that sweeteners in general aren't healthy in larger doses, but have heard good things about xylitol. Anybody have any input or suggestions? Thanks!
