Out of towner from LA, visiting this holiday -- we have Xmas resies at Red Rooster and thinking about Sons of Essex for Xmas Eve (it sounded fun, they're playing a Xmas movie in BG). Thoughts on the food there?
We like good food and atmosphere, but nothing too fussy. Love bistro type of food -- not looking for Thai, Mexican, Indian, Sushi.
Staying Upper East Side but can travel where-ever in the city.
Budget around $200 (we're not big drinkers). A steak-house or something rustic, taverny, would be great.
P.S. Just realized that SONS OF ESSEX has a club-like vibe which is not our scene so cancelled. I initially liked it b/c they said they were going to play A Christmas Story and we're movie people, so I thought that sounded quaint. Then I watched a youtube of the restaurant -- um, not thanks. We get a lot of that mentality in LA, we're good.
