Last weekend we tried the Xin (fusion) Bistro in Santa Cruz. It's owned by same person running the nearby excellent Omei restaurant on Mission St. Xin was originally name Xin Noodle. The menu was different and I did not try it. I think there were a noodle-trend that sort of faded away, so they tried to recreate Xin as an Asian Bistro.
We had kung-pao shrimp and orange-spice chicken with white and brown rice. The food was not too bad but not excellent. It lacks authenticity and intensity, but it seems healthier (less greasy and salty). Next time we will try some of their noodle dishes, with toned-down anticipation.
Btw, I wonder what are the good restaurants in this healthy-asian style? Is this a new popular food trend? Normally I prefer something more authentic but once in a while a healthy break seems good. Tonight I'm thinking of trying out a Pick-up Stix takeout. A mistake?
