Where did I go wrong with these cookies?

velvetdc1 | Apr 8, 201511:06 PM

Hi all, I'm not very good at baking but got this "foolproof" recipe (link below) from a friend in the process of trying to find my go-to cookie recipe. I just tried a cookie and while it tastes ok, the chocolate chips have completely disappeared as if I never added them at all. I am positive I added an entire 12 oz bag but I didn't get a single chocolate piece! Where did things go wrong? Is it that the chocolate chips I used were too small?

I followed the recipe exactly, with a few changes: I made double the recipe, accidentally added an extra teaspoon of baking soda which I then dug out and discarded, refrigerated the dough overnight because I was out of oats which I then added today, and lastly used Whole Foods 365 white chocolate chips (which are very small!) instead of pieces of a chocolate bar.

I'd love any advice from those of you with baking expertise so I can learn from this!
