The World Coffee Cafe is in the Montecito Shopping Center in San Rafael, right in the center in the space previously occupied by a Middle Eastern cafe for a long time and something else for a shorter time. I had feared that "World Coffee Cafe" would be just another coffee-house chain that I hadn't yet heard of, but not so. It's a one-off locally-owned place with a real breakfast and lunch menu, great pastry (which is all I had in my one visit there), and free wi-fi for the coffee-house crowd (not that there's a crowd there yet). I don't like or drink coffee, so someone else will have to report on that aspect. I did have a pecan square that turned out to be almost exactly the same as my mother's pecan pie that I grew up with, so you can see that I'm already sold on this place. I also tried a piece of a muffin they had out for sampling, and it was moist, dense, and very much like my mother's coffee cake. Maybe I'd better quit while I'm ahead. The staff is very friendly and gracious with none of the assembly-line feeling of most coffee houses.
Here's their food menu:
