Okay- I have an upright chicken roaster, which I've been dying to use. I think it has holes in the bottom. I was wondering if I could use my cast iron skillet to collect any drippings while the bird cooks and then while it rests I could transfer the pan to the stove and make gravy in it.
I've got to confess I've never roasted a chicken before so I know I shouldn't be trying to reinvent the wheel here... But I can't help it! This seems like it would work great! I'm only concerned that the drippings would burn. Anyone else have any reasons this won't work?
