Thanks to Mielimoto for giving me a lead on a fantastic Italian Restaurant in Barcelona called Specchio Magico (Luis Antúnez, 3 / 93 415 33 71).
For those visitors to Barcelona perhaps an italian restaurant will not interest you but for those that want a break from the usual fare, I highly recommend this place. They are known for their fresh pastas and not without good reason. We were three for dinner and had three different dishes and I can't choose which was better! One was Fusilli with tomatoes, basil and pine nuts which was fantastic, full of flavor. Another was their Ravioli stuffed with pears and parmesan with a walnut cream sauce, excellent. And yet another Pasta (can't remember what the name was!) with tomatoes, cream, ham, and peas (normally comes with mushrooms but I opted to have it without) even this typical dish was stellar.
They make everything to order in their tiny kitchen which was so small we couldn't believe it was workable. The service was excellent. The portions huge. It is on the pricy side, but you can definitely share. Don't expect any pizza here, come if you want some great pasta in a charming restaurant served with heart, I would recommend it for a romantic choice as well. It is a small place with only a dozen tables or so, I would recommend reservations.
