Wok seasoning - only half blued and darkened

Bought a Craft Wok hammered carbon steel wok. Wieredest thing. On my gas stove I started to heat it for initial seasoning and heat treatment. Color started changing and expanding as expected. But it only did so on one half. With wok dead center on gas burner the right sight in pic below went fine. Left side woudl not. Did the part where you propped it upon that left side over burner... nothing. Is thta normal to only darken halfway?

Of course my gas oven probably doesnt get as hot as a restaurant one. But I would think both sides would color evenly, for the most part.
