Wiseys Pies - fantastic Kiwi pies!

katdog | Feb 8, 201507:57 AM

As a transplanted New Zealander I've been meaning to try Wiseys Pies for a taste of home and wasn't disappointed. At 874 Eglinton, just west of Laird, this quaint and cozy spot is warm and welcoming. Pressed for time I ordered a steak & cheese pie and a mince pie to go and a flat white for the drive home. Wiseys uses Pilot Coffee Roasters and I throughly enjoyed my coffee. I heated the pies later for dinner and was very impressed with both. The pie crust was crisp and flaky, yet durable and both fillings were great. The steak was tender, flavourful with the perfect amount of gravy. The mince equally delicious. The pies have crust all around and can be eaten on the go similar to a Jamaican patty. I thought the crust to filling ratio was spot on and I'm looking forward to trying the other varieties available in addition to the baked goods and sweet pies.

Naturally, I'm a wee biased lol but I think this is a great spot worth checking out.
