Hi all, I booked a trip for a drive around Wisconsin starting in Milwaukee on the 9/15, Sat. nite in Sheboygan, Sun. in Green Bay, two in Madison, two in Dubuque and two back in MWK. Got some helpful info in this post:
but am looking for a few specific things.
Need to have a fish fry and it would be super convenient for us to get a lunch one as our flight arrives at 11:15 on Fri (from Boston). I want to have a perch or walleye option (can eat cod anytime here) and also potato pancakes. It seems like Kegel's is the place to go but that's for the night and involves waiting, which might be fine. But I saw that Jack Pandl’s does lunch w/ perch and pancakes altho it sounds like the service is pretty bad. Does the view outweigh that? Anywhere else to suggest for lunch? Or even a must go to in the night? We'll be at the Hilton downtown the first nite and in the Riverwest area the last two.
What's your favorite fancier place in Madison for northern Italian/new American/Mediterranean with entrees in the $25-35 range? Cool atmosphere, good cocktails/wine/beer. Or it could be old school classic atmosphere. This will be my travel agent dinner. Any thoughts for drinks at Opus Lounge or Robin Room? Looking for great cocktails in general but also dive bars and rock clubs.
Where would you watch the Packers game in Green Bay (they're away that day)? Green Bay Distillery looks pretty good. Would rather not be in a full on sports bar but a place that's lively and has a few TVs w/ decent food.
I have a hard time finding boards these days but if there's some Dubuque info I should know about, please pass it on.
Any other must go to spots in this loop? Looking to eat great local specialties. Thanks in advance.
