Just came back from having a Winterlicious lunch with a friend at Pan on the Danforth. I have been there for dinner a number of times to celebrate birthdays and such. I wasn't anticipating anything too exciting but I must say that I was pleasantly surprised.
We had the saganaki over mesclun greens. The cheese didn't come to the table engulfed in ouzo and fire but it was very nicely breaded and then placed on top of the salad.
We both had the chicken and mussels. The chicken has a light, tasty mushroom sauce over it. There were also some fresh vegetables as well as baby potatoes. Again, very nice.
The dessert was baklava and Greek custard in filo. Sorry, I can't pronounce it but I certainly love eating it.
I guess the place was a bit bare because it is the middle of the week and there aren't too many people who would comprise the Danforth lunch crowd. What a shame because I think that this was one of the best deals that I have had. I made the reservation only last night. Lucky too as I haven't been able to get into other places at a reasonable time.
