My friend and I went to Mistura last Saturday. Having booked the last seating for 9:45, we were a bit afraid that we would be left with limited choices. To our surprise, we got all the choices we wanted and the food was quite delicious and the portions were not tiny.
We both started off with the octopus salad. The salad had a generous portions of tender octopus, sprinkled with capers, chunks of potatos. The dressing for the salad was wonderful, good balance of acidity and olive oil.
For our mains, my friend ordered the sea bass and I had the italian fried chicken (recommended by our waiter). The entrees came freshly made, not reheated like other Winterlicious restaurants. The sea bass came in two fillets (we weren't sure if sea bass was such a small fish) on a bed of veggies. The fish was moist and melted in our mouths. Better still was my fried chicken. The coating on the generous half chicken was fried to a golden colour, was crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Yum!
Our desserts came, my friend had the hazelnut chocolate cake and I had the lemon torte. Her cake looked really good and I would have had a taste but too bad for me, I have hazelnut allergies. My torte was more like a scone in texture, so I was a bit disappointed with that.
The service was also quite attentive. Our waiter just started about two weeks ago so that may have something to do with it.
All in all, we had a really good experience. We will definitely go back in the future. It's disappointing that not more restaurants put as much effort into their Winterlicious meals as Mistura does.
