Winterlicious - Lolo

Lambchop | Feb 3, 2004 06:39 PM

Well, as a newbie to Chowhound who has been reading the posts for a while, I'll start with a positive review. (The Winterlicious reviews seem to have been rather negative so far.)

Ate at Lolo on Mount Pleasant south of Eglinton last night. The $20 Winterlicous menu is a variant of their regular prix fixee menu usually available at $22.95. So, a $3 saving.

Mixed green salad in citrus vinaigrette was generously portioned and lightly dressed. It arrived with tasty bread + peppery oil for dipping. Main was pan-seared provimi liver. Yummmm! Nicely seared exterior and rare inside, exactly as I'd requested. It came with well seasoned garlic mash and carmelized onions.

Desert was a light lemon tart with a melba sauce. No choice here but no complaints from me about that. I added a glass of Chilean Cab plus a cappucino and with tax and tip it was $40.

Service was friendly and efficient.

Was it good value? Yes
Will I go back? Yes.
Would I order the same meal? Yes, probably!

Without the Winterlicious publicity, I'd probably never have ventured inside. So they have one happy new customer.
