Winter or holiday foods / Ingredients

I know that with the current heatwave very few would
think about christmas which is still 6 months away,
however was thinking of the various goodies one tends
to eat on special occasions such as July 4th, passover
Eid, thanksgiving, Christmas, Diwali, Nauroze, etc
etc, so let's have some thoughts please about the
particular feast and the type of foods associated with
it.

Include foods that may not necessarily be feast foods
but are generally eaten on a cold winters day.

You can also include food gifts associated for example
with christmas.

Christmas: Turkey, Walnuts, Cashews, cranberry sauce,
roast potatoes....

Eid: Biryani, sheer khorma (vermicelli), kheer (rice
pudding), a drink made with milk that has been slow
cooked, with added almonds and use of saffron, along
with essences such as vanilla,or strawberry, various
nuts (these are either placed in a hostess trolley or
on the centre table of the lounge) such as walnuts,
pistachios, pine-nuts, cashews, raisins, and various
other oddments including sweatmeats such as ladoo,
gulab jaman, savouries such as samosas, kachori, round
kebabs (delicious with some ketchup), selection of
fruits, etc.
