Wing Lee dim sum to go, San Francisco

Melanie Wong | Apr 2, 200110:18 PM     1

Saturday I was in the Richmond to attend a baby party to welcome the newest member of the clan. Needing an appetizer for a dinner party, I bought a couple dozen pieces at Wing Lee on Clement Street. The siu mai and yee chee gow were $1.20 for 3, up from $1.00 not too long ago. Guess the energy crisis is having an impact, but the positive side is that the lines at 11am were not the usual crush. The wrappers on the har gow looked too thick to be any good.

Steamed to reheat them later that night, I thought the siu mai were especially good. Not overly large in size, with finely chopped chunks of juicy pork and not too pasty, these were well seasoned and dotted with the bit of salted egg yolk that you don't see that much any more. The yee chee gow were decent but nothing special. Dinner mates were very happy.
