Hi everyone, I have really taken a loving to the wine culture and exploring my palate in the past year. Rather than get ripped off at a restaurant, I am planning on cooking a nice meal for my girlfriend. She does not really care for white wines, save those that have bubbles! Here is what I think as of now...
Kir royale or perhaps a champagne with muddled strawberry drink?
Not sure if I will do a small amuse with this
Salad, I am thinking arugula, pear, a cheese and a vinaigrette of some sort?
I am thinking champagne again with this course
Linguini with shrimp in a light sauce, perhaps a white wine sauce of some sort?
Filet mignon with a cherry, balsamic reduction and goat cheese melted on top
Wilted spinach with pine nuts and garlic
Move on to something bolder for wines, perhaps a nice zinfandel?
A sampling of chocolate desserts, truffles, cupcakes, dipped strawberries
Stick with the Zin?
What do you all think of the menu/wines to go with? What changes/additions/subtractions would you make?
