Wine tastes bad once I start eating

I'm wondering if anyone has this same problem. I love red wine and drink it often, but I always have to enjoy a glass (or two) BEFORE my meal. Because as soon as I start to eat, something happens that renders the wine horrible tasting. It doesn't matter what the food is, or what kind of wine it is. It's a similar taste to when red wine is chilled and brings out the taste of the tannins. I also find that taste repulsive. I get the food/wine pairing thing because for me it's like drinking tea with chocolate. Both the tea and the chocolate are enhanced. I'm curious as to why this happens, with the wine. Does anyone know? Is anyone else like this?
