Wine Pairing help for a Pasta Tasting Housewarming/Meet-the-baby party

cdagostino | Oct 6, 201011:36 AM     12

So we just moved into a new house and had a baby. Thought combining the two parties would be fun but after sending out invitations promising a pasta tasting with paired wines I realized I am way out of my league. I found the below recipes which include pairing suggestions but I do not have much experience with many of the suggested wines. Another concern is the price per bottle. Many of the suggestions are upwards of $20 and was wondering if there was a way to cut costs since 100 people are attending. For example if a Pinot Noir is recommended as a good pair does that mean any Pinot Noir would work or do I need to dig further to pick the right one suggested. Apologies for my novice level of undersanding here and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Whole-Wheat-Rigatoni w/ roasted Vegis. Suggested pairing Pinot Noir.

Mac and Cheese Minis. Suggested pairing Pinot Gris or Aglianico (I have never had this type of wine)

Vermicelli with shrimp fra diavolo. Suggested pairing dolcetto or barbera.
